Until 18 months ago, Jon Brooks had made a living by driving boats and also possessed his own boat business. Nevertheless all that changed when his physical condition immediately deteriorated and left him with a cardiac arrest and heart malfunction.
"It's been a tough time, lots of challenges and boundaries," he stated.
But then something happened when he met a rehabilitation counsellor.
"As part of the therapy I had been visiting a specialist cardiac counsellor," he stated. "The lady encouraged me to consider a hobby to help to take my mind off of all.
"I started constructing Cufflinks because I wear them but could never get a hold of varieties to suit my likes and personality. I buy lego toys, Scrabble tiles, pin badges, dice, buttons, and then turn them into the Cufflinks."
Three weeks ago, subsequent to obtaining wonderful responses from good friends, he opted to open his home business and provide customised cufflinks.
In this short time period, he has already received orders from Spain and Gibraltar and gathered over 200 likes on Facebook. He now plans to attend a few exhibitions and might show some of his cufflinks at the new Petticoat Lane Emporium in Ramsgate.
